Economics, Politics, and Populism
By Enrique A. Bour, October 2017

I tried to introduce in this article the two main “dictatorship’s theorems”: Arrow’s and Gibbard-Satterthwaite’s. Then I proceed to present the relation between populism, democracy and public choice. I select as leading text Riker’s Liberalism Against Populism. I conclude with a presentation of Maskin and Sen “dominance theorem”, pointing that in a precise sense, majority rule is the ‘best’ rule of aggregation of individual values.
